LAW OF THREE (9)
THE ENERGY OF EFFORT
THE ENERGY OF EFFORT
Effort is the energy given to us that enables us to 'do' work.
We normally believe that we can make efforts. But effort arises out a desire (or aim) and the obstacles or conditions necessary to satisfy that desire. Desire precedes effort.
We cannot "make" efforts if desire is not present first. No desire no effort. Effort arises out of the resistance to desire. Effort draws its energy from two opposing forces (desire-resistance) by our consent.
We experience the active force in the form on the Essential Desire for some spiritual practice. This desire will be opposed by the Habitual Desire to lay idly in the armchair. Effort (energy) will not arise because our intention is not strong enough to raise the energy of effort to overcome resistance. The energy of effort can only arise prior to a true decision or the will to act. Without the power of decision the energy of effort is not required. The subject will stay in the armchair.
Effort is given to meet a need. Effort is necessary to overcome the power of habit. Effort is an independent force.
